The Torch Bearers of Humanity …
21 Sep 2011 Comments Off
“These are the Torch-Bearers of Humanity, its Poets, Seers, and Saints, who lead and lift the race out of darkness, towards the Light. They are the lawgivers and the Saviors, the Light-Bringers, Way-Showers and Truth-Tellers, and without them, Humanity would Lose its way in the Dark.”

in Ancient Wise, Prayers
Those remembered in history and folklore,
Those whose names have been lost to the mists of time,
I come to you as a seeker of wisdom,
A Child torn between the ancient wisdoms and modern times.
Teach me the wisdom necessary for this stage of my journey,
Honor me with your guidance,
Challenge me to grow,
Ancient Wise hear my call!

Hestia’s Flame Reflected
07 Sep 2011 Comments Off
When the flame of Hestia burns brightly inside of us it will be reflected in our daily lives. There will be a feeling of peace and rightness in the order of yourself and your life. Today was a day to make me realize how true this sentiment is.
During the last week I have wondered at the next stage of my healing practice. For years I have cycled between being very publicly available to private requests only. Shortly after praying to Apollon for guidance I received a variety of requests for energy healing and inquires as to whether I taught reiki. So it is apparently time for me to begin to practice more publicly and begin teaching again. There are plans in the works for this, including set times and private reiki shares for my students.
Musically … guitar practice is slow but steady. My hands are gaining strength and I’m learning to stretch my fingers, plus the capo is my friend. Overall I am pleased. However, the endeavor that pleases me the most is my spirit song practice. This is something I began to do shortly after moving into this house and becoming caretaker of the land. A year later at Earth Warrior’s Festival I learned this was called Spirit Song due to a workshop by Kellianna.
Spirit Song is simply singing your spirit’s song … the theory is that simple, open your mouth and see what sounds fall out. Some days it will be beautiful, others it may be full of despair. It is a reflection of your soul. At first I incorporated this into shamanic healing sessions. Now, as I have searched for appropriate blessings, especially in the morning, I find myself offering myself via spirit song. Apollon seems pleased with these offerings. I am also finding that words are beginning to form in my mind. Yes, it is scary to begin this practice. There is something very raw and vulnerable to it. Once you begin this, it is very freeing and healing.
Spiritually, I have continued my prayers to Apollon. Currently, I am focusing on deepening my definitions of my personal virtues in the journey to Know Thyself. With this I have asked the next stage of work he has for me. I am blessed to find my role as a spiritual advisor deepening. People I never expected to come to me have. I am humbled and honored by the trust and strive to do this work in honor, love and truth.
My hearth has the first fire of the season burning at this moment. My love and I sit here performing our individual tasks in the warmth and light of Hestia’s glow. This is a fitting break to the labor of love we have given our home the last few days. Simple conversation a week or so ago led to a dear friend moving in with us. As we have opened our space to include her the little tasks we have been meaning to do to the house have happened. There is still work to be done, but the main floor is finished and cleaned. All of us are pleased with the arrangement and feel of the home.
As I bask in the glow, I find myself filled with love and the rightness of life. A wonderful peaceful feeling that I wish to continue and cultivate. As the season is changing around us in the states, how will you keep Hestia’s fire burning within and around you?
Blessings and love to you all.

Being Authentic

No one ever promised being authentic would be easy, but it is rewarding. Think before you speak, but speak your truth and follow your heart. Use wisdom to know the appropriate time and place for both and remember sometimes silence is an act of wisdom.

“Let me remain in a state of relationship and inquiry with my Ego.
May Pride give me the sense of my rightful place within the world, within the Cosmos, within the great unfolding dance of Time.
May I not get caught up in ignorance, or internal greed, or the need to always feel that I am right.
May I ever court true peers and comrades who laugh with me, cry with me, inquire with me, and call me on my shit. May I seek out Suppleness and a return to Centering.
When the crust of Brittleness grows hard around my Thoughts, my Habits, or my Emotions,
may I notice this before the crust grows so thick and impenetrable that to break it would cause a fear of shattering.
I do not wish to Shatter: I wish to grow Strong, to walk in Wisdom, to seek my own counsel, and
the counsel of the Gods and the breeze, and my teachers, and the singing of the Stars.
Let me remain in state of relationship and inquiry with my Ego.
Let all parts of me comprehend that Ego does not run the show, but rather,
contributes to the whole pattern of my understanding.
Let me listen — every day — making time for this and opening the way.”

Who is Hestia and why is her flame important?
25 Aug 2011 Comments Off
in Hestia, Inner Flame
Hestia is the Greek Goddess of the hearth, home and sacred flame. She lives on Mt. Olympus and tends the sacrificial fire for the Gods.
In my personal work with Hestia, I have learned that we all have an inner flame of sacredness that needs to be tended. This has led me to begin to incorporate the tending of the fire to my personal life, which eventually led to sharing this with those I guide in meditation.
Hestia’s sacred flame is not just found in the hearth fires of homes, it is found within our heart. For hospitality and fellowship begin there. If our heart is sad, we have no interest in fellowship and nothing to share. Yet, if we tend our own inner fire we have more to give and share.
Meditation is a wonderful way for us to begin to tend our inner fire. This is a place to share meditation techniques, as well as other spiritual healing methods, stories and inspiration.
May your inner flame always be lit
